I/ Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to:
+ Use simple past tense to write a folk story.
+ Develop their writing skill.

1. Warm - up ( 7’)
- Ask Sts to write the past form of some verbs.

- Remind the meaning, then lead to the lesson.

2. Pre –writing ( 14’)
a) Activity 1:
- Have Sts look at the pictures and guess the name of the story.
- Elicit the new vocabulary :
1. stripe ( n ): (picture)
2. servant ( n ): (translation)
3. master = boss ( n ): (translation)
4. wisdom ( n ): (translation)
5. rope ( n ): (picture)
6. straw ( n ): (picture)
7. graze ( v ): (translation)
- Have Sts listen and repeat.
- Call some Sts to read individually.
- Get Sts to play game “ROR”.
b) Activity 2:
- Ask Sts to read and complete the story “ How the tiger got his stripes”.
- Call on some groups to write the answers.
- Give feedback and correct.
- Look and guess.
- Listen and take notes.

One day, as I was in a field and my buffalo grazed nearby, a tiger came. It asked why the strong buffalo was my servant and I was its master. I told the tiger that I had something called wisdom. The tiger wanted to see it but I said that I left the wisdom at home that day. Then I tied the tiger to a tree with a rope because I didn’t want it to eat my buffalo. I went to get some straw and I burned the tiger. The tiger escaped, but today it still has black stripes from the burns.
- Correct and take notes.
4. Post - writing (8’)
- Call some Sts to retell the story.
- Retell the story.
5. Homework ( 1’)
- Ask Sts to:
+ Retell the story.
